Description
NAMI – davidson county was formed to educate the public to understand mental illnesses and raise public awareness along with social and peer support and education.
NAMI Davidson County provides direct support to persons with mental health issues through 3 free monthly support groups direct advocacy in the criminal justice and provider systems. Individuals are responded to on clinical supports housing access to care and special circumstances. Mental health issues include: schizophrenia schizoaffective disorder bipolar disorder clinical depression suicidal ideation ocd PTSD borderline personality disorder and others. Eligible individuals with lived experience can train to become speakers in our own voice a NAMI national signature stigma-busting program.
NAMI Davidson County provides support to young adults ages 18-30 through several programs that advocate for a better future for youth and young adults. NAMI ending the silence is a presentation for middle and high school-age students that helps them learn the warning signs of mental health conditions and AIDS in suicide prevention. Young minds United is a NAMI Davidson County program for ages 18-30 with a mental health condition dedicated to fighting mental health stigma via support education advocacy and empowerment.
