Texas Central Hemophilia Assoc
Description
To improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by inheritable bleeding disorders in Texas through education, support, advocacy, referral services, and support of research.
Working with other state and national non-profit organizations, texcen advocates for affordable, equitable access to healthcare for the bleeding disorders community. Texcen provides on-going training and education to community members to advocate on issues surrounding insurance, Medicaid, and polices that create barriers to access to care.
The organization provides individual support to families within the bleeding disorders community who are experiencing economic hardships in the form of emergency assistance grants, travel grants for medical appointments and education events. Scholarships for young adults pursuing higher education programs are also awarded. Nonfinancial support is provided in the form of case management support to connect a family with a needed service or provider.
